Fashion Design of plastic by TOMAAS

New York-based fashion & art photographer Tomaas’ Plastic Fantastic series of images has an overall sense of etherealness. The model is staged with various plastic items such as straws, tubing, platters, and bottles. The striking contrast of the black background with the cool lighting creates an edgy, dream-like theatrical element.

  1. On Project Runway, they sometimes have to design with unusual materials, but this is far superior to anything I have seen there! What an imagination the designers must have to come up with such unique head gear.

  2. I like the first three because their very creatively designed but the last one kinda looks like one of the little troll dolls lol

  3. Not only the design of the last one is far off, but so is the look of the model. The series shows the model in a dreamy, far away look, but in the last picture she also looks very sick, thin, and unhealthy.

I'm not much for fashion statements, but using all the plastic we produce as clothing has potential. Durability, for example. It might not wear out. Reuse, too. More of the mounds of plastic in this world could be recycled and used again as clothing. Neat idea!
